The Highland Legacy Series: The Drover- Label designer Fiona Mackenzie
GlenWyvis Distillery is thrilled to announce the launch of the first bottling in The Highland Legacy Series, a distinctive collection of non-age statement single malt whiskies, debuted earlier this summer.
This exciting new series will be unveiled over the next two years and will celebrate the rich and varied history of Highland occupations, beginning with the legendary figure of the cattle drover.
GlenWyvis honors the spirit of the Highland Drover, a crucial character who played a significant role in shaping the region’s economy and culture. This single malt whisky, crafted with dedication and skill, pays homage to the resilience, independence, and rugged essence of Highland life. The Drover embodies the heart and soul of Dingwall, where the echoes of history blend seamlessly with contemporary craftsmanship.
To truly reflect this iconic Highland figure, GlenWyvis sought a remarkable label that would capture the traditions of past drovers and the whisky’s future. Designing a whisky label is no small task, but local artist Fiona Mackenzie was ready to create a fitting design. Staying true to GlenWyvis’s commitment to supporting the local community, Fiona, who comes from Gairloch, was the perfect choice. Regularly exhibiting at the Alchemist in Dingwall and at various exhibitions across northern Scotland, Fiona employs a range of mediums, from pencil and ink to watercolours and acrylics. With a special focus on wildlife and landscapes, she has crafted a unique label for this exceptional bottling.
With only 3,000 bottles available, matured in a blend of 37% First Fill Sauternes Barrique, 30% First Fill Madeira Hogshead, 21% First Fill high-strength Bourbon Barrel, and 12% First Fill Oloroso Hogshead, the Drover is a must-have for whisky enthusiasts and collectors alike.
