The GlenWyvis Environmental Grants 2025: A Commitment to Our Community and Environment

Back in June, at our Annual General Meeting, we were proud to announce the recipients of the GlenWyvis Environmental Grants 2025, a new initiative we’ve launched in partnership with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).

These grants were created as part of a binding Enforcement Undertaking agreement with SEPA. This agreement stems from a historical issue with a discharge problem that originated during the initial construction of the distillery. The current GlenWyvis Board was deeply concerned to learn of this and we have worked closely with SEPA to resolve the issue. We offer our sincere apologies for this oversight and are committed to doing better. This fund is an important part of that commitment.

Announcing Our Grant Winners
Choosing the recipients from the 13 incredible applications we received was extremely difficult. We are so grateful to everyone who took the time to apply. We also want to give a special thank you to our dedicated committee members, Ann Mills-Duggan and Frances Nixseaman, who are volunteers, for their hard work. SEPA was also instrumental in reviewing the applications, and we came to a unanimous decision on the winners.

The three grants, totaling £5,000, were awarded to projects that will make a tangible difference in our local communities:

  • First Grant of £2,500: Awarded to the Evanton Community Trust to create an environmental community space and edible garden. We were delighted to present this grant to Felix Spittal and Dee Jones.
  • Second Grant of £1,260: Presented to the Culbokie Community Trust to enhance the ecology and amenity of Culbokie Green. Paul Wadge and Catherine Cottis accepted the award on behalf of the trust.
  • Third Grant of £1,240: Given to the Maryburgh Community Woodland Group for training and equipment to help them manage their woodland and control invasive non-native species. We were pleased to award this grant to Gareth Parkinson.

Congratulations to all the recipients, and thank you again to everyone who applied. Your dedication to improving our local environment is truly inspiring.
