Campbeltown visit reveals old Ben Wyvis stills

John visiting Campbeltown distilleries

Founding director John Mckenzie was in Campbeltown experiencing the rich distilling history of the region, taking in various sites and distilleries. At the Springbank distillery he discovered how the business had close local ties, much like GlenWyvis. And at the Glengyle distillery he was able to see the original Ben Wyvis stills from Invergordon. Original Ben Wyvis distilleries

Originally from Invergordon when they were producing Ben Wyvis whisky, the stills arrived in Campbeltown in 2000 and started producing Kilkerran single malt in 2004.

Perthshire tour uncovers Glenskiach

John and Craig spent two days in Perthshire on official distillery business. First stop was Pitlochry for the Scottish Craft Distillers Association's (SCDA) annual conference. The trip started with an informative tour of Blair Atholl distillery - the heart of the Bells blend. It was then a quick jump over to Aberfeldy distillery which is the spiritual home of the Dewars blend. One of the historic distilleries we take our name from - Glenskiach - was one of the original 40 whiskies that made up Dewars! Craig with Glenskiach whisky

The SCDA annual general meeting was then held at the Atholl Palace Hotel and there was a small showcase of some truly special craft Scottish products followed by a meal and the presentation of awards. We are so honoured to have won the award for innovation.

John with the innovation award

Innovation is at the heart of our business planning and putting Dingwall back on the world stage of scotch Whisky. We would like to congratulate our fellow winners and thank everyone for a truly memorable and informative two days.

After visiting dozens of distilleries (both Whisky and Gin) as well as looking at many buildings from ground and air, we have what we think is a pretty amazing design. Architect Billy Reynolds has designed the building as split level utilising the site attributes. The experts at Forsyths have agreed that the deign is perfect. On cold winters nights the GlenWyvis stills will be glowing hot & be visible through the glass from Dingwall and beyond.
