In 2016 John McKenzie created the GlenWyvis Distillery. Starting with his own investment and with crucial support from the Bank of Scotland, he launched the project. The eco-friendly production methods and the community ethos appealed to many investors both in the local area and across the globe.
A World First in business naturally has lessons to learn in the early years. These first few years were always going to be tough financially, as we pour money into casks, and wait years for it to mature. When you add in the fire and a global pandemic it has been a rough ride. The Management Committee and founder of GlenWyvis have worked tirelessly this year to ensure not only the spirit of our whisky will be award winning but also the spirit of our community has made the dream stronger than ever.
We would like to pay tribute to the production team that has worked tirelessly to produce the spirit – which is now 3 years’ old and early tastings suggest that they have created a fabulous whisky, that will make you all proud.
As landlord John continues to attend committee meetings and assist with land/planning matters. He is in the process of transferring the land leased to GlenWyvis into a Dingwall Whisky Distillery Trust, to secure its long-term continuity.
In the meantime, the GoodWill fund has been created and will grow as the distillery works its way towards profitability. This will be used to support worthwhile community projects around the Royal Burgh of Dingwall.
With all our spirits and teamwork combined be assured common people will continue to achieve uncommon results
