Guests of GlenWyvis Distillery raise a glass and significant funds for social care charity Cornerstone
Guests of GlenWyvis Distillery gathered at Bogbain Farm in Inverness on Friday 17th June for ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dram’ – an event featuring unique tasting opportunities of the distillery’s inaugural release Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky and soon to be launched 2018 vintage Batch 2 – to raise money for leading social care charity Cornerstone.
Over £8,600 was raised in total thanks to an auction of unique items including the first bottle of the very first whisky produced by GlenWyvis Distillery and a GlenWyvis 55 litre firkin filled with GlenWyvis new make spirit dated 5th April 2019.
Speaking about the evening, Hazel Brown, CEO of Cornerstone, said: “Friday night really was an evening of whisky and community. Both our organisations share a synergy – Cornerstone’s focus is to help the individuals we support to lead independent lives within their community and to be an active part of that community and GlenWyvis Distillery is 100% community owned.
“The money raised will allow us to continue to support adults, children and young people with physical and learning disabilities, autism and other complex needs throughout Scotland. We are grateful to GlenWyvis Distillery for helping us to create a very special evening and to everybody who came and supported it and donated money. Thank you.”
Distillery Manager Matthew Farmer led guests through a series of unique tastings on the night including Batch 1 (released in 2021); Batch 2 (due to be released later this year); Single Cask 66 (cask strength from a 55 litre Oloroso Firkin which was also auctioned on the night) and a cask-aged GoodWill Gin.
Matthew added: “What a great way to spend an evening. It was a pleasure to see our guests raising a glass and raising money for such a worthy cause. We had to postpone this event due to Covid, so to have everybody together enjoying great food, great music and entertainment, and of course great whisky, was a real pleasure.”
GlenWyvis is looking forward to releasing Batch 2 later this year which received rave reviews on the night.
